Route Optimization OptiFlow API provides a solution to the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), a logistical puzzle where the goal is to find the most efficient way to distribute goods or services to multiple destinations using a fleet of vehicles.
To demonstrate the efficiency of this PTV Developer API, we propose you a new user-friendly Showcase illustrating a basic use of it.
Templates are provided so you can easily import your own order set and vehicle fleet, in geocoded xlsx files. For each order you can specify a type (pickup or delivery), a volume, a service time, and a time window. With vehicles, it is possible to define a maximum volume, costs per hour and per kilometer, fixed costs, and whether the start location of the vehicle is a depot where goods can be (un)loaded. Note, the Route Optimization OptiFlow API provides much more capabilities than the ones listed above – which are not integrated in the first version of the showcase.
Select the predefined vehicle profile you want to use, and then start the optimization. You will then observe the progression of the main KPIs during the processing: number of routes, number of unscheduled orders, total cost, distance and duration of the planning. The corresponding routes are regularly updated and shown on the map.
Once you are satisfied with the solution, you can stop the optimization and even export the result in an xlsx planning file.
Please be aware, the use of the showcase is restricted by API Key: depending on your plan, different limitations may be applied (number of locations, runtime duration…).
