Since Matrix Routing API V1.5.0, you can define your own date and time as a reference for toll prices, when calculating time-independent matrices. This can be done by using the new options[tollTime] parameter, instead of considering the default date (Monday of the current week at noon).
This is particularly useful if you want to get a general impression of the impact of future toll tariff increases on your usual routes, when forecast tariffs are available in the map. For example, the toll obligation in Germany will be extended from the 1st of July 2024 to trucks over 3.5 tons of total technically permitted weight.
Moreover, selecting specific date and time for toll cost calculation will allow you to obtain results better fitting your habits, when your average routes pass by roads with time-dependent tolls (like the Dartford Crossing near London, which is free of charge at night).
Read our concept page to get more details about toll calculation, and the toll data page to know more about the data availability in the map. You can also try this feature with our new code sample or with our tutorial.
Please remember that toll calculation may have an impact on performance and is therefore available only with the asynchronous startMatrixCalculation operation.
Please note also that Routing API offers as well the possibility to calculate future tolls for average and time-independent routes, since V1.23.0.
