Today, low-emission zones are being introduced more and more frequently in cities and urban areas. Established in areas where air pollution levels exceed the acceptable standards, these zones ensure an improvement of air quality by either restricting or prohibiting the entry for high emitting vehicles.
Rules and regulations for low-emission zones may vary from country to country and even from city to city. In Europe, in particular, it is common to require a specific emission badge on the vehicle or a certain emission standard to gain access to these zones.
With PTV Developer Routing API V1.24.0, the European low-emission zones are automatically considered during route calculation. That means that the selected vehicle will enter a low-emission zone when it is allowed to, otherwise the low-emission zone will be avoided. Please note that our predefined vehicle profiles allow entering all low-emission zones the vehicle can get an approval for, but you have the possibility to modify them to your individual needs.
